ATD Tulsa April Program

Is Investing in a Talent Management System the Right Step for your Organization?

Why did CAP Tulsa, a 600-person non-profit organization (which means that competition for funds can be fierce), choose to make the investment in a talent management system when so many other, larger, for-profit companies may not? There were a number of business drivers for this decision that we will explore– a new and complex performance rubric that affects three quarters of our staff; multiple business locations; the ability to intentionally plan and track employee growth; the regulatory need to track and verify staff credentials; the desire to carefully plan for leadership succession; and limited headcount in administrative functions. All of these factors led us to identify funding for, implement, and now support a talent management system.

We will provide a case study designed to help talent management professionals weigh the pros and cons of implementing an integrated talent management system. By describing our own experience selecting, implementing and using a talent management system, we will help other professionals approach this decision using a business case lens. We will address the pros and cons of implementing an integrated system to handle and track employee recruiting, performance management, employee learning, and leadership succession.

After participating in this workshop, you will be able to:
(1) understand common pitfalls and benefits of launching and using an integrated talent management system; and
(2) use a business case approach to consider whether a talent management system is a good investment for their organization.
