Translating your Learning & Talent Management Skills to Change Management Roles and Projects

Program Description:

Many learning professionals struggle to step out of the role of (or be seen as different than) an order taker – because that’s frequently how business leaders engage with learning professionals. It’s up to us to showcase additional value we can provide the organization. Developing talent goes beyond just building great training. The entire ecosystem set up around training is crucial for talent development. It’s crucial that we can translate our skills of ecosystem building to the world of change management which is generally seen by the business as “more important”.

With companies taking a hard look at their budgets, learning and training roles may be quick to be eliminated. When learning professionals understand how to translate their skills and influence to change management, business leaders are better able to see the value these professionals provide to the organization. It can feel intimidating to take on a new role, especially since many of us will think we don’t have the training or experience.

For any learning professional with education or experience, we already have a plethora of change management skills, we just may not have realized these skills are change management ones, too. This session will help attendees be able to recognize the skill they already have and may need to develop to insert themselves into change initiatives.

Change is inevitable. It’s a constant element in any type of organization that brings a couple of setbacks. But there are ways to manage change where it’s not too disruptive.

You might think that you need to have a completely different skill set to step into a change management role. But what if you could get better at translating your current skill set of learning and talent management skills to change management roles? In this session, we’ll dig into your existing skill set to help you match your skills with change management roles and projects to make yourself more marketable in a job search, or to provide more value to your existing organization.
